Changing Oil on 95 SS w/GT-40 (Basics)

I just posted some basic instructions for changing oil on a 1995 Super Sport V-Drive... it is probably the same for many other boats in that classification. I am sure this is out there already, but I did it last night so I decided to add a post. Oil variations and filter options are specific for your model, so check your owners manual on type, weight and quantity of oil. But this was a really easy maintenance that anyone can do with the right tools. I used a Pella Oil Extractor (about $50 for the small version).. 5 quarts of oil, filter and about 1 hr labor start to finish. Enjoy.

The OEM filter is the Motorcraft. Also, you can get straight 40 weight VR1 oil.

Haha,.... Chexi.. I grabbed the wrong photo of the Vr-1.. I used the Straight 40wt... not the 30wt... the manual recommends 40 wt for anything over 50 degrees, the 30 weight is recommended for 0-50 degrees... I dont think I would take my boat out if I had to use the 30 wt....

      Thanks for catching that... T.
