Damper plate noise problem 2008 SANT210

So if the damper plate is the problem like so many think it is, how long will it last? Like others, I have not had much problem with it outside of the clanging noise just above idle and a the transmission not engaging twice. Anyone have any idea or know what happens if you keep going? The dealer by me says this is the first he has ever heard of it. Nautique seems to know about it and is trying to find someone around here to fix it. The reason being is we have friends we have been trying to get out here for awhile and they can finally make it this next weekend. Does she have one or two days left in her? Besides, the dealer (who really doesnt even want to do it) cant even get to it until November, says it will take at least a week. We like to go out at least once or twice a week all year. This sucks! So much for buying it new.

According to PCM, the damper plate issue only causes this noise off idle. It should have no negative mechanical issues. It should not be causing transmission problems. There is another problem involved, most likely, with the transmission. Possibly water intrusion if you were heavily sacked-out while wakesurfing? The dealer should have received a service bulletin regarding the damper plate and/or can access it.

I'm taking her out Friday and we will see what happens. I'm not to
waited down when surfing. Water comes up to just above the rub rail and never through the exhaust ports. How much water do you need
inside to cause it to go into the transmission? Maybe I should replace trany fluid? How would the water get into trany anyway?

It would be odd for water to be in your tranny at the same time the level is low. Wasn't your level low?

Can't guarantee it...but if the fluid is nice and slippery and not foamy, I'd guess no water. I don't know what fluid is in your tranny.

Here's the failure point in mine. The central hub in the damper plate broke the weld holding the hub into the plate. When I revved the enginer, it would not transfer any rotational force to the transmission. Just thought some of you might want to see what a damper plate looked like. Yes, mine was an 08 210 also...

The rattle is typically a spring that is loose in its seat...just enough to rattle. It's unlikely an indication of imminent failure. I used mine all summer after noticing the rattle and had it replaced in the winter months.

Took her out on Friday 7 hrs strait and not a single problem. I will keep going
out until weather changes or it breaks.
Suppose to be in the 90's again by Friday.
Can anyone tell me how long their boat was in shop for them to replace damper plate?

For mine, the repair itself only took a day or two. It took longer to get the part in from PCM and work out the warranty issues than it did to do the actual repair. I had to get the boat in to the dealer for them to diagnose the actual problem before that could happen, so all in all it took about a week and a half.

That's not to bad. I have had a lot of people say the warranty part is the difficult part but one shop said it would take at least a week and
they would have to pull everything out to fix it.
CC is all about doing what they can to help get it fixed. My biggest
problem now is where to take it and when.
