PerfectPass paddle wheel placement on a SAN

It's about time to finish the winter projects.
The one which is a bit spooky for me is the PerfectPass paddle wheel placement. I heard some of the 2003 SAN got the paddle wheel in the wrong place and therefor the PP didn't work flawlessly. I really want to prevent this kind of problems.
Our 2000 SAN has 2 water inlets (engine cooling and ballast intake), on the same height in the hull. One on the right side and oposide (sp?) one on the left side. They told me to place the paddle wheel about 8 inches in front of the left water inlet, about the same distance from the middle.
Was I informed correctly?
Another question, isn't placement on the rightside of the boat better for surfing? That side is always deeper in water, and sometimes we turn slightly to the right when surfing (but 95% we drive straight ahead).

Can somebody post some pictures (or mail it at tvhoek@planet.nl) of their paddle wheel placement? In this way I'm 100% sure about the placement..

I've received the same documentation from the Nautique dealer. But our ballast water intake is exact on that spot last time I checked. I cannot image it changed lately Yellow_Flash_Colorz: . As far as I know this is the official place for the ballast inlet in 2000 SAN, so I find this documentation a bit strange...

Just received an email from PerfectPass and they suggested to put the paddle wheel just in front and a bit to the side of the ballast intake (about 3"). I will check this weekend in the boat if everything works out on the inside of the boat (transmission), but this should work...

Roddbod, thanks... The paddle wheel seems pretty far out of the middle... But I guess it's all same. As far as the flow in front of the wheel isn't disturbed...

Sorry to bring up this old thread. But we installed the wheel at the spot suggested by PerfectPass. Last sunday we took the boat out for the first time and it works flawless! Boat holds its speed within 0.2 miles when empty or with full ballast and 8 people onboard (at wakeboarding speed or at wakesurfing). Great purchase, realy love it!

Did the installation take you a lot of time ? I am ordering perfect pass next week and i will also do it myself.

Hi Willem-Jan,

Our PP came with the boat, but uninstalled.
The installation was actually pretty easy and took about an hour with 2 people. I found it easier then installing the tower on our SuperSport from last year. Even drilling in the floor wasn't that bad, just keep your drill at the same angle as the hull (you need 4 eyes for this). I don't have that much of pictures, but I can take some more and send them to you if you want..
