    211 2008 Temperature Problem

    2008 Nautique 211
    5.7 PCM Fresh Water Cooled
    93 Hours

Unfortunately I have been out of town for the past couple weeks and the boat has been sitting on the hoist. This week has been beautiful so I thought it would be nice to get one or two more runs in before I have the boat pulled. Anyway last night I overheated and today when I looked in the engine bay before heading out to work I found that this (see picture bellow) has blown off giving everything a nice coat of antifreeze. The tightness of the two clamps were not very tight, I was able to turn them 2-3 revolutions before I could not turn them anymore.

My question is should I just push the fixture back down, tighten clamps, fill with dex-cool, and have them look at it when I take the boat in for winterization and storage. Or should I take it in now and conclude the season?

Are you sure its antifreeze? I think your boat is raw water cooled and doesn't have any antifreeze in it

Its fresh water cooled. The boat is originally from FL.

Dont quote me but that picture certainly looks like part of a closed water system to me.

If it were me i would be inclined to reconnect it, re fill it and take it on another run. Just keep an eye on that temperature gauge.

        How hot did it get?

The hot engine alarm went off and that goes off at 210 (according to the manual). When I looked it was a shade over 210 so maybe 220.

Is the thermastat located right where it seperated?

Anyone know what temperature they usually run at? I know closed loop/fresh water systems run a bit hotter than raw systems but I want a baseline.

I know mine is an older boat and is the gt40 engine and raw water fed but it usually runs around the 160 mark. I wouldn't have thought yours would be much higher.
