Replacing Steering Cable 2001 Ski Nautique

Does anyone know if I have to pull the gas tank in order to replace my steering cable or is there some form of work around? Thank you

Hi. Not sure if its the same but I changed mine on my old mastercraft pro star 190. I could just about reach the rudder end to connect the cable but it was very tight.
I ended up removing my tank just to make it easier. Half an hours work to remove the tank making a ten minute job to disconnect the old one and reconnect the new one.
I'm all for trying to make life easier.
    Hope this helps.

I changed mine on my '99 and did not have to move the tank.

I tied a rope to the old one before I pulled it out and then tied to the new one to pull it through. Some guys duct tape the new one to the old one and pull it through that way.
