It will hit sub zero a few times throughout the winter. At least a week or two where the HIGH temp will be below freezing.

On my 95 SN with the GT 40, the 2 on the rear of the manifold will not come out, they are in tight and have a plumbers type tape on them. All other plugs have been drained. Is it normal to have to use a socket wrench with out the socket to unscrew the manifold plugs, and should they be super tight??

Hey guys - I have a question on the GT-40 Direct Drive transmission cooler. How does it work? Pressure differential I would assume. If I ran Antifreeze into the block would it have gotten to the tranny too? What are your thoughts?____________________________________________

It depends on the actual location of the transmission cooler. I think it was relocated about every six months.
On my 1997 Ski Nautique, I take the bottom hose off the raw water pump, and hold it in the bottom of the bilge, and the water runs out, because the transmission cooler is slightly higher than that. You can also blow air backwards, with the strainer cup off the strainer body.
Do not get antifreeze in the strainer cup, it attacks the plastic.
How does the transmission cooler work? There is a bunch of small pipes inside the body of the cooler that the water flows through, and the transmission oil flows on the outside of the small pipes. Or maybe the transmission oil goes through the pipes, and the water flows on the outside of them.

Thanks Dan. I think I am good. I was reading this thread and became concerned that water was circulated to the tranny. Glad to hear that my understanding is correct that it is the oil that circulates.____________________________________________

Never mind I did some more searching and found where the heater hose is connected to one of the drains on the block, which I did pull and drain into the bilge.
Looks like I should blow some air to get all the water out of the heater core though.
Thanks!

Did you pull the water hoses off that go to the vdrive? Without doing that I'm not sure how else water would have been able to get out of the vdrive. I did my vdrive last of the drains and a significant amount of water came out
