    Heater install

    Hi all.
When I brought my boat the previous owner had removed the heater as it was frost damaged.
I have since purchased a new heater box and core and now want to install it.
The original heater water pipes are connected to the starboard engine drain point and the connection by the thermostat housing where one of the temperature senders are located.
Unfortunately I cannot use these pipes as they now feed hot water to the lpg system. ( I live in the UK so lpg is the best option )

My question is where can I now connect my heater pipes?
Can I do the same as the original pipes except connect one pipe to the port engine drain and the other pipe to the same place by the thermostat housing?

    Thanks

Mine has a Y on one of the drain plugs for the heater hose and the hot water shower hose. Can you do a Y where the LPG line draws? I don't see why you couldn't plumb in a Y at both points.

I would not mess with the LPG system.
You could use the port block drain to supply water to the heater, and in some heater installations, the water return from the heater is plumbed into the plug that is at the bottom of the elbow, on the large hoses for the circulating water pump.
Another option I have seen done with the water return is to use a "Y" just before the raw water pump. (the suction side) This does allow warm water to go into the raw water pump impeller, and may affect the cooling of the engine, I do not know. I understand it does make the heater work really good, because is improves the circulation through the heater core.

Yeah I didn't want to touch the lpg line as the vapourizers are prone to freezing up.
Thought the port side would be ok to connect the feed to. Just wasn't sure where else to connect the return to.
So the elbow on the circulation pump I can use the drain off port without any problems?

Makes life easy if I can connect there.

        Thanks for replying guys.
