I found cross references for the PCM filter here http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=R077001...
They suggest: Fram PH8A, HP1, TG8A, K&N HP-3001, Mobile 1 M1-301, Purolator PL30001
I went with the Mobile 1 - no issues.Derald

A question with as many opinions as what type of oil should be used. My preference is Mobil 1 (same w/ oil) followed by K&N. I have heard WIX & Motorcraft are good as is NAPA Gold but have no experience with them since I have no reason to switch away from Mobil 1. I use Mobile 1 on all my vehicles and have for many years. You'll get opinions that Mobile 1 & K&N are a waste of money but it's my money as it is yours, buy what you want and what you feel gives you the best protection. One opinion I think is pretty universal, stay AWAY from the orange filter manufacturer.2004 196 LE Black/Grey

Mobil 1 and K&N filters are the same except the K&N has a hex welded on the bottom. I also use Mobile 1 15w50 with one of those filters Auto zone or Advanced usually have a sale with 5 qts and filter for low $30s. Never use orange filters.

The manual says to run straight 40W in my 97 GT-40. Can I switch to Mobil 1? What weight? Do they have a 40W Mobil 1?

To answer you question . Yes you can switch. The recommended weight is 15w50 it has the ZDDP protection for older flat tappet engines and works well with the new ones. I have been using Mobile 1 since it first came out in 1977 no problems yet.
