Does 4 hours labor seem correct for my boat? That's what I was quoted, I always assumed it was a pretty easy repair.

My boat took me easily that much time. By the time I removed the floor, cut all the tyraps, and crawled down into the storage compartment, removed the dividers, and stood on my head to disconnect the cable from the rudder, removed the panel under the drivers console, disconnected the cable from the steering column, and put it all back together, I would have probably paid someone for 4 hours if there was anyone around here qualified to do it. All kidding aside, it is not difficult, just a pita.2005 SV-211

As someone who did work in a Correct Craft dealership, that is very reasonable. Especially if every storage compartment is crammed full of gear.
If you have the wedge shaped tanks, it is more difficult. While it is apart, your dealer may even clean up a lot of the crap that has accumulated behind and under the seats, the places you cannot reach, unless you take it apart.

Here is a picture of mine when I did it, you tell me. I would have happily paid for 4 hours labor if it didn't require major deconstruction of the stereo to get to the cable. As ski4evr said, the standing on the head part to get to the rudder connection is not very fun. Don't remove the ball clamp at the back, just unscrew the cap and slide the cable out. This way you don't need to re-do the alignment.Last edited by Mikeski; 11-09-2011, 02:13 AM.
