Adding Integrated Bow Bag and Belly bag to SAN LE

I am looking for a little help/recommendation from others that have done a similar setup before.

I am adding a belly bag and a integrated bow bag to my SAN. Its a LE so there was no stock belly tank. I have three jabsco pumps and want to put two into the rear 750 bags (no longer mess with the shutoff valves/siphons/drains leaking).

My questions are:
How should I setup the belly and bow?
Any reason to look into doing a 4th setup to fill drain the bow or belly seperately?
How effective is doing the traditional overflow design if both belly and bow are bags?

Anything else to consider?

I think you should be fine piggy backing the front bags as you described. You will speed up fill and empty time if you add the 4th pump though.

Did you purchase your fat sacs yet? I have a Nautique center sac (W721). I purchased it at the beginning of this season and never got it installed. I did remove it from the box, placed it in the hull, and filled it with the garden hose to see how large it was. I also have 3 W743 and 3 W746 fittings to go with it. The bag sells on for $339.00 and the fittings are $7.00 each. If you are interested in them I will sell it all for $275.00 shipped. The bag is grey in color and is in new condition. I still have the original box it came in.

Is your SAN pre-2007?

If so, check my ballast install thread. I piggybacked a ski locker and integrated bow sac on my old 99 Air. Should work the same.

I T'd off my ballast pump for my belly and nose sack and put shut off valves at each bag. This gives me more options on ballast as I can fill and empty each sack separately.

@Chexi - Any recollection what the thread was called so I can search for it? And yes, it is a 2003 SAN.

@Seth - I like the 'T' off idea. Where did you put the T valve and your pump? Any issues with sucking air when one is done draining and the other is not? I have no illusions of the bags being boned dry, but just want to see how yours worked.

All 3 of my pumps are mounted in the engine compartment behind the back seat back rest. The T is in the back and 1 fill line goes up by the gas tank through the middle of the boat to the belly tank and one goes up the port side and connects to the nose sack. The belly shutoff is right in the ski locker where the hose connects to the bag and the nose sack shutoff valve is right in the port side area where the cup holders are for easy access. The nose sac always empty first and then I close that shutoff and the belly sac continues to empty. The bags do get almost all of the water out. The sacks actually vacuum down.

Seth - Thanks for the detail. What are you seeing for fill and drain times off the single pump? Also, if you dont use the shut off on the bow bag does the system get decently dry?

I just looked through your install pics listed in your profile, nice work on the changes. Many of the things I was looking to do.

If you put in-line check valves on your vent lines, when you reverse, they will suck all the way down, even if you have 2 sacs T'd to 1 pump.

No problem! As far as fill and drain times, ive never actually timed it. Probably around 5 min for the nose sac to be overflowing and another 5 min for the belly to be full so about 10 min total. My belly sac is huge though and completely fills the entire ski locker. I know its full when the locker hatch starts to push up.

When I first installed my system I did not have the shut off valves but did have the one way valves on the overflows. For some reason when the nose sac would get completely empty the pump would not be able to get suction on the rest of the water in the belly tank (would leave it about half full). So I installed the shut off valves and havent had any more issues.

The nose pump is also running off of the stock 3/4" scoop inlet which would push water past my pump when underway and fill the bags. I have since cut the scoop off that inlet and fixed that problem so I pretty much just leave the belly shut off valve open at all times now.
