Analogue speedometer

Hi everyone.
My analogue speedo does not work. I have the jumper cable from perfect pass unit connected but get no speed reading on the gauge.

Perfect pass display reads fine.

Is there any way I can test the gauge to check whether the problem is the gauge or the cable etc?

Ok. I pulled the gauge from the console today to try and repair. Got to be replaced anyway so if I can fix it then great.
I connected the gauge to a 12 v battery and tried linking accros from earth to the signal post. Needle didn't move.
So I tried the opposite accross the 12v to the signal post. Again needle didn't move.
So gauge definitely no good so I decided to take it apart.
Eventually managed to get the front off the gauge and when I tried to move the needle by hand it was quite stiff.
Worked it backward and forward a few times then reconnected it to the battery.
Now when you connect the +12v to the signal post the needle spins round.
Yet to test on the boat but hopefully for half hours work it's now sorted.
