12 Gauge Red wire in battery box... where does it go?

    Hi,

I have a 96 Ski Nautique. In the battery box is a 12 gauge red battery wire that probably had a ring lug on it that connects to the + post
of the battery? It's not connected now since the lug was broken when I bought the boat. Where does it go? I assume I should re-connect it.
It appears to be a factory wire since it is covered in the protective black split tubing used to prevent chaffing of the wire.

If anybody has detailed wiring diagrams for a 95, 96, 97 I can trace through these also.

      If you flip the run/off/bilge_only
toggle switch to bilge only, do you hear the pump spin up to see if there is water to drain, might be for that if you don't hear it?

Thanks but the pump works with no issues. I looked for a wire of that thickness (and the color red) going up to the dash and it does not exist.
Thought it may be going to the engine via the main power plug on the engine but no. I've yet to find what does not work with it not connected.

Check to see if it goes to the alternator....not sure how you'd be running without it but check it.

Go the the alternator and find the pos wire and trace it and let us know where that one goes.

What are you reading for voltage on the gauge when the dashboard is powered but the engine isn't running? Another guess could be the separate wire is for a sensor/circuit breaker to protect from overcharging?

Well I figured out where it ends up. As to what it connect to, I've no idea since near as I can tell, everything works. The wire comes out near the
blower on the drivers side. It ends in a single connector with just the red wire. It is sheathed in the black plastic split tubing all the way from the battery box to the connector so it is a factory wire. Perhaps some optional feature? I dunno.

Given that the wire ends in the engine compartment, it's not radio or amp related.
