    PerfectPass with ZO Emulation

I have not seen any posts on this upgrade - any comments on this upgrade ? I have been struggling with the decision to convert to ZO, which is expensive and only done at a few shops a long way from North Carolina. My boat - 2006 196 SE

I think the final verdict will be out after the initial 50 Zbox units get some real-world testing. There is some good conversation over on ballofspray about this. No doubt, there'll be tweaks made in subsquent versions. It may be worth holding out a few months before making a final decision, as converting an '06 to ZO isn't cheap.

I just talked to perfect pass on friday. They told me the first 50 units went out and feedback was great. they are moving forward with making more units. I ordered mine on friday. I have an 06 196 with star gazer. I would look for a newer 196 with zero off before I spent the money to covert the 06. $439 is worth giving it a shot.

One of the 50 is in my hands. Installing it on Thursday on my '97.

I have heard good buzz from my mechanic (who helped in the Z-box testing) and I suspect that this upgrade will really boost values of used boats.

Hope others have a good experience with it - and I agree - this is a cheap way to extend the life of your boat.

For those of us with Perfect Pass (single line version) on my '99 SN, I would need multi-line PP display, and then what, Star Gazer plus the $439 Z-box?

I believe you are correct, still quite a bit less than a re-power to dbw or a new zero off boat. Then again it might be a good excuse for a new 200!

todda, you are correct. You need SG and the multi-line display.

There is some great video footage of Zbox v ZO over on ballofspray. They're having a pretty in-depth discussion about it, and the reviews seem pretty good, with some mixed impressions.
