Tacho Beeping problem

Hi Folks, been a while.

I've imported (to Australia) a 2006 196 SE with the 330hp engine and 70hrs on the clock.
After about 2 hrs of operation (so 72hrs total) the tacho started beeping madly, i've been through all the information and tried to reset it (as per manual) with no luck.
everything else works fine and there apears to be no problem.

I've contacted Faria and there saying a faulty Tacho (even though the tacho itself is working).

Any ideas, thoughts???

I'm happy to just buy a new tacho but being in Aussie it's not as easy as going to the local Nautique shop.

Oh BTW simply the BEST slalem ski boat we've ever had, havent tried a newer Mastercraft though (last one was a 1999 Prostar 190) and it craps all over the couple of Responces we've had (05 & 07 LXI & 07 LX)

are you sure it is not the annoying "low fuel" beep. They start beeping at about 3/8 full. It will often reset before you have time to read the display. IIRC, both of the lighted buttons adjacent to the small LED will flash red.

I know you slalom folks like to run on an empty tank...but I suggest you "fill-her-up" and see if it goes away.

or the depth alrm.....I have mine set for 3 feet and I can silence the alarm when it sounds but not cancel it. I have to restart the boat.

I'm pretty sure the depth alarm is on the other gauge, tried topping the fuel rite up
alarm wont cancel and cant scroll through the menues, just keeps beeping and the lights on the lcd display flashes red.

tried unplugging the gauge overnight to see it it resets with no luck

Have you tried Disconnecting the battery for a while??

Had a similar problem with my 206 and it turned out to be the gateway box. You could probably disconnect the tach at the Gateway also, at least to stop the beeping.

Well the beeping has finaly driven me nuts. Faria are 90% sure it's a gauge problem and have offered to look at the gauge under warranty which is pretty good of them to offer on an 06 boat.

Being Autumn over here is one of the best times for skiing i don't want to be without the use of the boat so i'm going to order a new one first from Nautique parts . com.

your kidding, there the reason i imported direct in the first place.
And trying to charge me $600+, 6 weeks delivery for something i can buy in the USA for $180. and have in my hand in 10 days. i'm not that much of a sucker.

Sorry Nautiques_NZ, don't mean to get on my high horse but the whole import boating industry over here are a joke, i understand that if they manaufacture in Aussie the costs are diferent but when something is wholely imported, particularly second hand, charging nearly double what joe blogs can buy for overseas and import direct is a rip off.
