    Second Battery

I'm thinking about adding a second battery, if I find the space. I don't really trust a jump box. My dilemma is what is the best method. I came up with this and wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts. Basically I would keep my current dual battery switch and just run the Surepower 1315 isolator between the two batteries. It would give me the ability to use either battery for all power. Typically, I would use the starter battery while running the engine for all accessories. In coves, I would switch to the Dual Purpose battery. Also, I could switch to the Dual purpose for the bilge overnight (vacations). What do you think?

The Blue Seas VSR would make it even more hassle free. They use a switch that's different from the Perko, it would do the same thing without any switching on your part.

I like the Blue Sea VSR, but I just realized I'm going to have to put one battery about 15-17' away from the other. If I used my initial setup or the Blue Sea, I would have a 34' run from the House battery under the front to seat the Amp distribution block. Basically it would run all the way around the boat. I can just make a run from the House battery directly to the distribution block (about 4-5ft). This is probably what I'm going to do:

mf01, did you end up implementing the above system? How did it work out? (recently purchased a 94 Sport Nautique)

I just installed the blue sea and installed an optima under the dashboard. Lots of wire but it works great. 93 sport.
