please help with this tranny sound

2005 196 ski. everything works perfect with 450 hours. i am second owner and have never been in another ski boat before just v drives. when you drop it into gear (forward) there is a noticable whine or grown in the first click. when you throttle up the engine noise cuts it out. it is not near as noticable in reverse. all tranny fluids where done every 50 hours. i have done three myself. the oil is always clean with no debris. do those trannys just make this noise or do i have a possible problem. it never grinds or clicks or anything like that, it just has a constant wheeeeerrrrrrrr when in gear. i know i sould like one of those people that bring their car in the shop and says it goes click can you fix it please. maybe i need to do a sound link for ya.

i have tried to find some video of someone in a boat taping something so i can hear the slow speed , but have had no luck. someone going back to pick up a skier or just before they pull them up would be perfect.

    thanks

Packing gland. Is it dripping? If the sound disapears when you throttle up, did you rule out a loose belt? "Not to undermind your mechanisism"

When was the last time the alignment was checked? Been several months since I have driven any boat, as I remember it the trans in my 05' definitely makes some noise, IIRC reverse is louder then fwd though?? Prob not a loose belt as I am betting you have a serpentine belt with a tensioner, unless the tensioner is going bad?? If you can post video that would certainly help.

Honestly, it sounds like you're just hearing the gear reduction tranny. Since CC puts gear reduction in all DD boats, I'll use MC as an example. The 1:1 tranny doesn't whine at all, but jump in a power slot version and it's a huge difference. We'll need a video or some audio to tell you for sure, but you may be digging too deep?

No serpentine belt in 95. It is a twin belt set-up. One for alt and one for water pump. My '96 always whined in reverse but never in forward.
