New style spray on wax kudos!

I was told shipping is expensive and sometimes Priority is more than Parcel Post and vice versa and that it could take up to 14 days. I checked the cost from Georgia to Texas an Priority mail for a 2 lb box under 12" would be less than I paid for shipping. True, in looking at the site again, I could have opted for FedEx, but didn't. So, long story short, I'm not asking or expecting any freebies.

Still, it's given me some time to think. As a result, I ordered some Maguire's Carnuba Paste wax from Amazon. It has worked flawlessly for me for years with only two applications per season. It shipped today (the same day I ordered it). If it gets here before the BtS, I'll either throw the BtS in the garbage or on ebay for cheap and not bother trying it. I guarantee whoever buys it won't have to wait as long for it as I have. With as well as wax has worked for me, I'm questioning why I ever bothered considering something else.

This is wax on a fourteen year old boat. It's good enough for me.

agreed. It looks great! As I said, the true test will be how / if it repels the river scum. I used a product called poli-glo that applies like a varnish kind of, the river scum just slides off of it, that product will set the bar for BTS. Although i am a fan so far. I will be dunking the boat tomorrow and will know in a few days the situation with the river scum line.

I searched long and hard for this one (right down to the color combination). It turned up just up the road in Plano in 2007 and I pounced. I don't flip boats too often. When I find what I like, I stick with it.

There was one in the same color combination for sale at one point. Pine Cove camp has this color combo also in a 99. But it's a little worse for the wear.

For the record, those pictures are not BtS. I'm still waiting for it. That's Maguire's Carnuba Wax. Regular carnuba has done just fine at repelling the scum line from Caddo Lake, or, at least keeping it off well enough that it comes off with a damp towel. Not sure if you are familiar with Caddo, but it is a murky looking lake and bayou with very silty and slightly oily feeling water.

Just one trivia bit on parcel post....if a first class package weighs over some number (13 ? ounces) and is not "handed" to the postal worker, the package goes parcel post.

One time I put a first class package in the company's "out box"....it got pickup up by the postal worker (no other way it could have been picked up) and because they didn't receive it physically from my hands, it went parcel post and took three weeks to get from Houston to upstate Minnesota.

Interesting. I usually drop my stuff off on the counter at the post office. Bypass the line, nod at the postal worker, and off it goes to the destination in 2 to 3 days. Thinking about keeping the stuff and just spraying down my trailer with it to help with bug strikes.

I just reread the thread. Lots of folks asked what is in this stuff. The most information we got was "polymers" and you can put it on anything. Anyone got anything more specific. Is it silicone? Starting to get hesitant to put anything on the boat without knowing what it is.

I always try to use it along with a known product to see how it works. The transom works good for testing, mine gets morning sun and plenty of water spots on it everytime we use the boat. I'll put a piece of tape in the middle and try the new stuff on one side and the old stuff on the other, then just watch to see which one lasts. Looks like I should do the sun pad the same way with this stuff.

Do they have to ship those polymers to Mars to call them that? Do they do that after I order it? According to Amazon, my carnuba wax will be delivered today. I'm betting the BtS will take longer still.

The last "protectant" I used on my gelcoat was 303. Within a few months the Nautique stickers were peeling off and I had to replace them. Be carefull!
