Ballast Install - where to find aluminum or ss piece

So many of you have mounted your impeller pumps on a custom aluminum (I think... maybe ss) flat piece that you have installed between the support bars behind the rear bench seat of your older SANs and SSs. Where did you get that flat piece of metal? I can find (and have) diamond plate, but I want a nice, strong, flat piece of aluminum that is wide enough for the 4 bolt pattern of the pumps, taking into account I will likely stagger them a bit.

Any machine shop or weld shop should have something. Possibly even as a 'scrap' or 'cut off' piece. Get it? Find a place and tell them you just need a little piece of aluminum flat bar... Might be able to get it free using the 'scrap' route.

Try this as shag said. Also, type in aluminum plate or stainless steel plate in google.........lots out there.

I second Metal Supermarket... I've used the one in Portland several times, they'll cut any size while you wait.
