Battery for 03 206

Everyone,

Need some input about a replacement battery. I ran the original Interstate battery that came with my 2003 206 until last fall when I pulled it out of service. So I got 9 seasons out of this battery...I'm amazed. I checked the water level once a year and charged it every spring prior to use. I have to say, I'm amazed. I work on electronics for a living and I'm impressed.

I want to get a new battery this year, but I never liked how this battery fit in the compartment. I read some other threads and others have said with the TSC2 hull, certain batteries do not fit well. I have always had a height clearance with the compartment cover and the top of the battery.

I did some research on the different sizes: 24, 34, and 65. The model on the interstate is a C78DT-XHD. I'm not sure of the size, Interstate does not mention the actual size on their site, but they do provide dimensions. I have no plan to use an Optima, but I'm looking to see if anyone else has information about battery sizes in boats of my generation.

Update: The Interstate C78 is just a bit larger in all dimensions than a 34 battery. However, the C78 has another 100 cca. I bought a 34 and with my terminal covers, it just fits and the cover doesn't smash down on posts like it did with the Interstate battery. The 34 is rated for 750 cca.

We are having unusually warm weather in eastern Pennsylvania currently. We hit the river yesterday and I took a run in my dry suit. NICE!!!!!!!!!!!
