Last year we took a vaca with our boat only to have an impeller fail in our ballast pump. We didn't have a spare so it was a bit of an issue. The mechanic at our local AD suggested we change the engine impeller every season after it's sat over the winter just to be safe. What's a reasonable interval for replacing the JABSCO impellers?

I asked this question a year ago, and the concensus answer was "when it breaks". These tend to last a lot longer, and the result if they fail is not catastrophic. Carry 1 spare. Also, if you reverse the pump for a half a second at the end of each fill and empty cycle to set the fins in the correct direction for their next use, it will help a ton on longevity. Now
