Python 502 engine oil confusion

The engine oil fill cap on my 1999 Python 502 says "5w-30".
The 1999 Super Sport owners manual recommends 40w-40 engine oil.

Which one is correct?

I suspect that the oil fill cap may not be original. Are there any Python owners that can confirm if your engine oil fill cap also says "5w-30"?
