As you might have seen in a different thread, I just replaced the fuel filter in my fcc. To do so, I had to remove it from the engine and get caveman on it. It is now reinstalled and all of the fittings are leak free. BUT, now I have a significant fuel leak from around the fitting where the electrical wires enter the top of the cannister. The joint where the wires enter show the remnants of some amber colored, gelatinous caulking but this stuff is crumbling. There is a nut of sorts through which the wires pass, but I have no idea how to tighten that as it is recessed into the top of the canister. I can't believe that this little bit of caulking is really the difference between leaks and no leaks, but I have no other ideas.
Has anyone else seen this problem and have some suggestions?
