    Leaking Fuel Control Cell (FCC)

As you might have seen in a different thread, I just replaced the fuel filter in my fcc. To do so, I had to remove it from the engine and get caveman on it. It is now reinstalled and all of the fittings are leak free. BUT, now I have a significant fuel leak from around the fitting where the electrical wires enter the top of the cannister. The joint where the wires enter show the remnants of some amber colored, gelatinous caulking but this stuff is crumbling. There is a nut of sorts through which the wires pass, but I have no idea how to tighten that as it is recessed into the top of the canister. I can't believe that this little bit of caulking is really the difference between leaks and no leaks, but I have no other ideas.

Has anyone else seen this problem and have some suggestions?

Just in case anyone was following this post, the crumbling caulk was indeed the difference between leaks and no leaks. PCM now makes a retro-fit for this which has a decent o-ring and a much better designed nut to hold it all together. Unfortunately it took pcm a couple of weeks to get me one (I think they actually had to make one!). In the meantime, I dribbled some standard two-part epoxy into the area around the wires and it held up until I got the new piece. Also, fyi, a person really ought to replace the fuel filter more than once every 4 years - mine was a gunky mess and the replacement immediately fixed a rough running and weak engine.

I had the same problem in 2006.

I know this topic is ancient, but I have this issue on my 2000 SAN. Just curious what the installation is like. Once you get that wired plug harness pulled, how do the wires connect inside the FCC?

The wires are pretty straight forward, the plug on the top has to male blade connectors sticking out the bottom and then the fuel pump has two female blade connectors that connect up to the connection.
Save yourself some money, clean out the gunk from the top of the connector and fill it in with fuel resistant epoxy. I went the PCM route and was appalled at how much they charged for what you got.
