My port side tank sending unit is reading the tank is always full, even when empty. I removed the sensor expecting to find it hung at the top, but it wasn't. When unplugged the gauge reads empty, but soon as the sender is plugged back in it is back to full. I'm going to swap sides tonight and see if the problem follows the port sensor to determine if the sensor is bad or something else. Does anyone know if a test procedure for these? I would assume it is similar to a fuel tank sending unit, but different manufactures use different methods of sensing. (volts-ohms-etc)

I believe its ground resistance. Don't quote me but think they are 30 to 140 ohms.
Put test meter accross plug connections and I think if you move float to top of sender it should read 30 ohm and 140 at bottom.
I had a faulty one last year and in sure that's what mine were.
Hope this helpsCurrent

Okay, I swapped the sensors and the problem followed the sensor so I know the sensor is bad. I read it and the good one with a multimeter and the good sensor reads 245 ohm empty and 30 ohm full. The bad sensor reads 45 ohm empty and 30 ohm full. I know someone on here was trying to sell tanks awhile ago. If you are reading this and want to sell a sensor I'm interested!Jason

Yeah knew it was 30 to something40 not far out by 100 lol.
Venislwake do you have two? If so I still need a sender for one of my tanks. Can you measure the resistance to see if it is also 30 to 240. Also can you measure the length of the sender from the bottom to the underside of the mounting plate please. Pm me a price and shipping to the UK please.
ThanksCurrent
