    Steering cable

Couple of questions about a 1994 SNOB if anyone can help. I've searched the forums, but can't find a specific answer for this year.

Is there a zerk fitting to lube the steering cable on this year/model? If so, I can't seem to find it...can anyone post a pic, or describe where it would be?

If there is not, I will be replacing the cable soon...is the best way to tie a rope/cable to the old one, pull it out and attach the new cable? Which way is easiest to pull from?

    Thanks!

    hey man,

not sure about your model, but typically the zerk is on the rudder assembly, not the cable..........

Definitely no zerk fitting on the steering cable. They are not serviceable. IF you have a zerk fitting on the rudder port, my advice is to try greasing that first, on your boat it will be under the gas tank so it will be a little difficult to get to. Steering cables are not cheap, but 9 times out of 10 are the root of the problem when it comes to stiff steering.

Thanks for the replys...Yeah, I wasn't quite clear in my description. I didn't assume the cable had a grease socket. I will take a look under the tank to see if I can locate it. Does anyone know for sure that there is one on the '94?

As for the method of replacement if that is the case, would the best method be the one mentioned above?

        Thanks

Not quite sure on the zerk fitting, but my guess is yours probably has one. I think they did away with them by '96, I don't remember mine having one, and my '97 SS doesn't have one.
Yes on the replacement cable method. You've got it.
