    GT-40 Check Engine Light

I performed a boat test the other weekend and boat ran great except for a leak in the rudder. There was no check engine light on. I am doing some other boat maintenance and noticed a wire was loose. I plugged the wire back on its terminal and now the check engine light comes on. I unplug the wire and the check engine light goes off. Can anyone please help? I want to make sure there is nothing MAJORLY wrong with engine. Thanks! See the pictures for the wire. it is just above the oil filter on the port side of the engine.

Pretty sure that is the oil pressure sensor it hooks to. I ran my '96 for 2 years w/o the wire.

That is the oil pressure switch. It will turn on a check engine light (I assume you mean the red light that is front and center on the dash) if oil pressure goes below a certain value. They do go bad, check the oil pressure gauge, that is then sensor that the light blue wire is going to. If it is better than 15 at idle and goes up from there, don't worry about it. Disconnect it until you can get one of these http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=R020015A. I would have referenced nautique parts, but I couldn't find it on their website, they are worth a call though.

Thank you for the reply's. that is correct, red light on the dash. I do believe you are both correct. the engine runs perfect otherwise so I think it is bad. Oil pressure is right on. easy enough fix. I'll get a new one. Thanks again.
