I just put my boat in wter yesterday, ( have spent all winter repairing stringers, replacing floor, etc... ) boat would run up to about 5k rpm but speed would only be about 42 mph. Have had a moomba and prostar and speed was always right at rpm. ( 2k rpm would be 20 mph ) Don't know how accurate speedometer is, adjusted it to 30 mph at 3000 rpm. (1:1 transmission ) Prop is stock as far as I know, just wondered how rpm and speed relate on your boat. No ballast, just me and my seven year old. Hole shot is good, but a little worried about tranny, would it slip at higher rpm? Thanks, Ben Happy Easter!

If your engine is stock and you havea 1:1 tranny you should be turning no more than 4400 rpm's at wot. If you are and it sounds like you are then you might want to check the prop and also the tranny for slippage. 5k is too many rpm's for your engine unless it has been modified somehow. Your speed should be 42-43 mph.
