    Front trailer axle making noise??

While pulling the boat home I noticed the front axle was making a noise almost like metal was loose somewhere, if you beat your hand on the tire it sounds like something is loose?? Trailer is for an 01 SAN any ideas?

check your lug nuts first, jack the trailer up and wiggle each wheel. If it's not your lug nuts it's probably a bearing gone.

doubt it's the lug nuts, how tough are bearings to replace?

Easy job, just real messy. Fix it before something happens, I lost a seal that I didn't know about and water got in and set for a couple of months. It took a 6 mile trip to the gas station and back to destroy the spindle. Fortunately the ramp is in my hood so i was able to get the boat unloaded and back to the slip before the wheel came off.

If your trailer has disc brakes it could be that one of the pads is worn down and you've got the metal backing of the pad grinding on the rotor.

the trailer does some weird stuff . if i firmly press on the brakes the trailer shakes real loud... on the hub bearing note. get a grease gun and use the bearing buddy system. bearings are cheap but hubs are are about 90 for the front and 60 for the rear. spindles not so sure.... just make sure you grease your bearings at least once a month. i found out the hard way and burned up a hub.
