hard steering with pics

I have a 96 ski nautique 176 and the steering started getting very hard to turn near the end of last season. Is there anything I can grease? I will replace the cable if I have to but right now I really dont need the added expense if I can help it. I took some pics to show how my setup is.

Is there supposed to be a place to grease a setup like this or is a new cable the only thing that will fix it? Thanks in advance.

Replacing the cable is the only real way to fix the issue.

Before you start throwing money at a problem, remove the cable from the tiller arm and then turn the wheel back and forth. If it spins freely, your cable is good and you need to move to the rudder. IF it is still stiff, your cable is the culprit. I put a brand new cable in my boat and it was still stiff afterwards. Better but still stiff. Ended up having to take the rudder out, greasing the log, re-packing the rudder port, and putting it all back together. Now it is buttery smooth like it should be.

I had a 99 SN and had the same issue, mine was the cable. I took it out and with some time, was able to get some spray lube in the cable. after all the work i did to do that, i think it would of been easier to just replace it. when I sold it a few year latter is was still working good. I'm still very frustrated because I now have a 07 211 and having the same problem. when will CC fix this problem that I have seen people ask about over and over? obviously there is a problem with the cables they are using

when will CC fix this problem that I have seen people ask about over and over? obviously there is a problem with the cables they are using

This is a common "boat" problem and not specific to CC. It would be nice if someone would find a better design.

Appears they are trying to improve them - "The factory has improved this cable recently. The current version is part of the Extreme line of TF Cables and should provide improved performance and life."
