    Steering Wheel Shake

I swear I have tightened everything I can find, but the steering wheel on my 99 SAN still shakes, and pretty bad while accelerating. Any ideas what I missed or need to tighten to get this back to normal?

How's your prop looking? Check it for dings. It only takes a small prop ding to cause rattles and shakes.

Yea, I had considered the prop as a culprit, but the wheel still shakes while not moving. Is it normal for the steering wheel to have a little give to it like that, and it is probably a prop issue?

My friend had this on his 04 san. There's a plastic type bush behind the steering wheel. My mates was worn causing it to shake. You could move the wheel side to side by just touching it.

Looking on nautiqueparts for a steering wheel bushing, but don't see anything. What part exactly are you referring to?

Not sure what its called. My friend removed his. Measured where it fits and made his own out of polypropelene. ( think that's how you spell it ) made it using a lathe

The bushings in the helm have worn, but teleflex does not offer replacement so if you want to replace the tilt helm replace it with the newer version which has bearings instead of bushings.

If you had a pair of calipers to obtain the measurements required, I could make a new one for you and send it to you...or find a local machine shop if you don't want to spend the money on the newer style.
