Depth Finder placement for Pro Air?

    Hey guys,
I'm trying to install an "in hull" transducer for a Humminbird in dash depth finder, and I was wondering if anyone here has a 99-2002 Pro Air that either had a factory installed unit, or has successfully installed one of these in their boat. I'm trying to get an idea where to locate the transducer in the bilge area. It appears that I could get a "clean" water flow between the drain plug and the water intake for the engine.
Does it matter if the transducer sits on a small angle on the bilge, or do they need to sit level?

    thanks,
    Jack

My transducer sits beside the water pump for the ballast.

Mine sits directly under the transmission. It works fine there. This is where it was when I bought the boat. I think I have heard some mounting it on an angle with the hull, but I bet it would be better if it was flat.

It should be on flat area of keel. if on an angle, during a sharp turn, it could read erratic due to being "above the water" or catching turbulence. OF
