Perfect Pass Digital Pro not picking up boat speed

Got the boat out this weekend for the first run and noticed right off the trailer that the Perfect Pass (Digital Pro) and the speedometer (hooked up through the PP) were not registering. Other than this, the PP is working fine. It turns on fine, registers RPM's, etc. I recently replaced the steering cable and wonder if I might have bumped the wire for the paddle wheel. Has anyone had something like this happen in the past? Also, if the paddle wheel or whire to paddle wheel is damaged and this is causing the sending error, does Perfect Pass still offer parts on these older systems? Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks

If they don't, the paddle wheel is made by Airmar.

My Stargazer system stopped reading speed and it was the GPS puck as opposed any other part of the system. If you do a lot of towing, the airspeed over the paddle wheel has been known to wear them out over time.

Hi. I replaced my paddle wheel last year. Think it was the st300 paddle wheel. Can still be brought from perfect pass. Think you can get them from Nautique Parts also.
As for knocking something when doing the steering cable, check all your connections at your module box.
If I remember right you can test your paddle wheel with a volt meter. Put positive probe onto the green wire coming from paddle wheel and the negative probe to an earth. Spin the paddle wheel and if its ok should read around 5 or 6 volts whilst spinning. Should read 12 volts when not spinning.
Have you checked the actual paddle wheel itself?. May just need a new wheel kit.
      Hope this helps

On the computer unit (ours is located under the dash) there is a side wire that controls the MPH. It most likely came unplugged and needs to be put back in. It is a slim 4-5 prong connection.

Guys...just to follow up. Used my volt meter and wasn't getting any power testing the green wire on the main line. I did some digging online and found the entire paddle wheel kit (thru hull, paddle wheel apparatus, wire, etc) for $63. I had time on Friday and pulled the old unit out and put the new unit in. Had the boat out on Ray Hubbard over the weekend and it worked like a charm. The only question I have now is that it seems like the boat isn't staying on speed as close as it was prior to replacing the wheel. Are there adjustments (i.e. tightening the tension cable on the servo) that would help this? When I purchased the boat, I was told by the dealer not to adjust the servo so I've tried to keep my hands off. Thoughts?

How do you mean staying on speed? Is your perfect pass set point reading different to what the speed reading is or is it hunting above and below the set point?

Can you tell me what tools you needed to change your steering cable please. Doing mine tomorrow. Thanks

Hyparks, apologies for not getting back to you earlier. Tools for changing steering cable - I believe I just used an adjustable crescent and a pipe wrench for the nut on the rudder housing. If you haven't already done it, I would suggest repacking the rudder while you change the steering cable.
