Yes Common sense. I always just loosen the nut a few turns and put the cotter pin back in. Also, nibral is used by CC for it's strength, but it will still bend before the prop shaft will. (A good thing)

There is definitely a lack of common sense. Among the newer people we have coming in to my career, some aren't even able to 'check' the oil in a vehicle.... Geez

thanks for all the hints everyone. I am for now going to try a c clamp. Boat is going in the water this weekend and dont feel like losing another weekend. Is there any way of damaging anything if i heat it?

Too much heat can take some temperament (not sure if I spelled that right) out of the shaft. Be careful with open flame around the Fiberglass as well. A little heat, let it cool, heat it - cool.
Be sure the clamp doesn't put too much pressure on one side - need to be even pull....

i may buy two c clamps and put one on each side.

I really do not know how long the prop has been on there. I bought the boat 2 summers ago and god knows how long its been for ....

I've used a brake puller ($20) from autozone. It's a bit of a rig job, but it can take the toughest props off. It has three arms and a tightening screw in the middle. You put the arms around the back of the prop and slowly screw the nut down. The exact same concept as a prop puller but the arms have a tendancy to slip off the back of the prop.

With that said, I now have a puller because I dont feel like taking 45 minutes for a simple prop change (after it slips off 4 times). I went with the OJ from SKIDIm and it was a pretty fair price (aprox $69 ish). -Marc

I have a harmonic puller. I've used both styles and I prefer the harmonic. Get the acme weekend saver kit as well.
