2003 SAN Prop questions

I realize this has been a popular question in the past. I searched for a couple hours and didn't really find the answers to my questions, so I appologize.

Small incident with a small log has left a ding in my prop and a minor vibration above 3000rpm. I'm going to have the stock prop rebuilt and trued for a spare but figure there is no better time than now to Re-prop.

2003 SANTE 5.7L factory prop(644 i guess?) at the moment. Boat is used for family multi-use. I use the boat mainly for riding and surfing with ballast 2200-2400lbs for surfing, maybe half that for riding. Would like to be able to pull the occasional slalom skier(although rare). Tubing for the kids sometimes, and general cruising around the lake without an overly massive fuel bill due to the prop change.

Wakeprops.com reccomends the ACME 1248 or 1464. What happened to the 1236 I've read about?

My main question is whats going to be the best fit for me and my use. Do I get the larger 1464, for an all around improvement, or get the 1248 to concentrate on my surfing/riding and hopefully it's not a big fuel drain at cruising speeds? Is there other options that would make more sense? In my searching I read a lot about the 1236, is the 1248 and updated one?

The 1248 is the same as the 644, only 1/4" larger diameter. This should give you less prop "slip" as there is more prop in the water, which will decrease your RPM and torque and should increase top end a little. In your comparison above you have the props mixed up. The 1464 is the wakeboard prop while 1248 will be more of an all around prop. So if youre looking for more torque than your 644 I would go with the 1464 or 1236. The only difference between those two is the cup .105 (1464) and .150 (1236). Cup is similar to pitch in that it reduces slip (less torque, lower RPM's) so the 1464 is more agressive than the 1236.

Awesome, thanks for the speedy reply Seth. I've discovered the delta website and can see all the specs now. Much easier to figure out.

I'm looking for a 'wake' prop as i'll have my factory 644 aswell.

So between the 1464 and the 1236, the more aggressive 1464 is going to give me more tourque and less high end/fuel efficiency than the 1236 with more 'cup'?

I'm assuming the 14.5inch 1234 and 1272 are too large for the older SANs?

Here are the specs on the props Seth mentioned; the added cup of the 1236 will help a bit with fuel economy at cruising speeds, and still give you the out of the hole performance you are seeking with the 1464. Talk it over with Bill at ACME he can estimate for you the difference in rpm you can expect between the two.

1464 13.50" dia. x 14.250 pitch and 0.105 cup 1 1/8" RH

1236 13.50" dia x 14.250 pitch and 0.150 cup 1 1/8" RH

I just bought the Acme 1579 (formerlly the Acme 1464) from Delta Props. Gary was great. Got my prop fast. I bend the prop on a Thursday (called him Friday AM), I had a new one on my porch the following Wednesday and Monday was a holiday. We usually run the factory belly plus 650 on each side of the motor and an integrated bow sac under the seats with 200lbs lead under the sac. Before the new prop it took forever to get on plane. Now it is a piece of cake. There is a huge difference. If you wakeboard with your boat slammed this is a great addition.
