Center Ballast tank guage always reads half full 2002 SANTE

    Hi CC fans,

So I have another small issue here with my center ballast tank located in the ski locker. My guage is always reading half full. When i fill the ballast it reads full but when i empty it it only goes down to half. Its nothing major but i like my stuff always working perfect. Does anyone have any ideas.

I was looking at pricing and i couldnt believe the costs of new floaters .... 70 -80$ for the floater.

Any ideas or input is appreciated.

    thx

Hi. I have a link on ny computer at home to a website that sell them. I'm sure they are around 40 dollars. Will let you know what it is when I get home. I need one for a rear tank but they won't ship to the UK.

Sorry. I found it on here a while back. The original post I found it in was a couple of years old.

              this is great guys,

Do you all think that it is my floater that has the issue or do you think it is the guage ? has anyone tried to fix the issue?

My rear one is the sss/ssl. You really need to get yours off and measure it. Measure from the bottom of the sender to the underside of the mounting plate. Then you can tell wema what size you need. You need to make sure they are the right resistance too. Think they are 30 ohm to 140 ohm or 40 to 130 ohm. You can check this by pulling a good one out of your tank and checking the resistance accross the 2 wires whilst moving the float up and down the shaft.

The way to check your sender is to take it loose and read the ohms of the sensor. It should read close to 240 ohms empty, and 30 ohms full. If it reads say 150 ohms empty then the sensor is bad. Replace it and your problem should be solved. This is the same issue I'm having with one of my rear ballast tanks.

I'm not sure if the fuel tank sender reads the same ohms value as the ballast tanks, but if it does all you would need to know is the length of the sender which you can get by removing your old sending unit. Measure from the bottom of the mounting flange to the end of the sensor. If your sensor is the same mounting flange as my 2003, you will need the SSS/SSL model. http://www.smartcart.com/WemaUSA/cgi/display.cgi

Here are some examples of how to test the senders and what you will see on a DMM...

Yes Core Rider your right it is 30 - 240. I was only 100 ohm out! Lol. What's 100 ohm between friends!

Test your sender like Core Rider said. Test your guage by touching your signal post on the guage to ground using a piece of wire. If guage ok the needle will move to full.
