Volt Gauge Issues and Perko Switch Question

We just pulled our boat out of storage after the winter last weekend. I guess I had turned my perko switch to the off position for winter storage. Anyways I completely forgot about this and took the boat down to the ramp and tried to start at. Boat would not start fiddled around with a few things then figured it out. Question 1. Why would the perko switch still power the radio and all the accessories but then cut off enough power for the starter?

Then after I got the boat started my fuel gauge and volt gauge read zero. And would just tick at zero. I took the boat to the dock and let it sit for a while and eventually the fuel gauge decided it wanted to work but the volt gauge is still showing nothing. I know everything is fine with the alternator because we ran the boat for about and hour with the stereo going and all. Anyways any ideas? I know at least the fuel gauge was working before I tried to start the boat because I verified how much gas was in the boat and it was reading 1/2 a tank.

Anyone experience problems with their fuel gauge and volt gauge working intermittently? Possibly a power issues? Sometimes they work sometimes they don't...

When my perko switch is off, I get nothing, nowhere.
