Ballast pump placement on a 2002 SAN

Hello Everyone,
Recently I purchased some new Johnson Impeller pumps to upgrade my stock ballast and I was looking for some advice on where others may have installed the pumps??

I have two Johnson ultra ballast pumps that will be plumbed into two rear 750's. Any pictures or procedures of previous upgrades would be much appreciated.

I will take some pics and post today. Basically I pulled the flimsy carpeted divider between the seat and engine compartment and mounted the pumps on the bow side of the framing where the ski pylon is. Just barely fits.

Here are two pics of my pumps. I cannot stress enough that they just barely fit (on my 2000 SAN). I have to say that God was with me when I installed these. I did made sure the seat back had enough clearance, but I did not double check the seat bottom frame. I had an "oh crap" moment when at first I could not get the frame back in. Then I found that I just had to do it a certain way. The factory aluminum cross beam was just tall enough to get 4 bolts in per pump. You have to measure carefully and account for the 90 degree bend in the bottom (i.e., you have to drill the top 2 holes closer to the edge than the bottom 2 holes, per pump).

I have confirmed that there is no vibration in the seat back from these.

For anyone else reading this thread, Jabscos might have too large a diameter to fit there.

I really will try to do my write-up tomorrow of all of the lessons I learned the hard way.

I used the same pump on three different installs: a 2002, 2003, and 2004 SAN. What I did was made an 6"x12" aluminum plate out of .125" thick aluminum. I mounted that plate to the backside of the swim platform bolts and then mounted the pump to the plate on the port side. On the starboard side, I made the plate a bit wider to mount 2 pumps to it. It works great.

Then I used the old carpeted material from the top of the ballast hard tanks to make a little swinging "door" which attaches the to engine divider with hinges. The purposes of this is to keep the bags from sliding back into the pumps when full. I will take pics and start a DIY thread shortly.

i mounted mine to the glass behind the seat backs...plenty of room...plently strong...seat still fits fine...30 hrs and no issues yet...

I'll post pictures of mine soon... I've got one under the seat that has the battery under it, one under the back bench seat behind the driver (far enough back I can put my batter jumper pack under that seat still, and then one mounted upside down in the center locker. Works good so far! I have them all wired to the dash with 3 rocker switches. Wake = AMAZING now.

I cut out that plastic brace on the rear seat you can see in Chexi's pic to fit my pumps in that area. I was a little worried but cutting it out had no effect on the back seat. It doesnt bend at all when I lift it out.

i screwed mine directly to the floor under the rear corner seats i like that i can hear them a bit better there so i can tell when they run dry.

So fAR, I really like where I put mine. It might not be the easiest place to change an impeller on the two pointing down (not terrible either), but it is hidden and does not sacrifice any storage space or ease of engine access.
