    Steering cable?

Hi all. Had a great weekend on the lake this weekend. However my steering has always been really light and easy to turn. This morning it was the same but then all of a sudden it went really tight and hard to turn. First I thought it may be some weed stuck around the rudder but nothing. I know these seize up but really so quickly?
I have had a quick look around the rudder inside the bilge but can't see nothing obvious. Is there any thing else I should check before spending on a new cable? Next time I'm at the bolt il disconnect the rudder and check the steering again that should tell me if cable or rudder. Do rudder's seize also?
    Thanks guys!

Anyone know what tools i need to change the cable? I'm away from the boat now so not sure what I need. How does the cable connect to the rudder?

    Thanks
