I just purchased my first Nautique this weekend, a 2007 Air Nautique 226. The one main area needing attention on the boat are the aluminum board racks, speaker cans and mirror arm. These items have pitting and discoloration from not being waxed and left in a lift on the lake with no care. That said, I am at a loss as how to bring these back to their original beauty and luster. Does anyone know of a diy process for restoring these items to their original state or know of a service where they can be sent for restoration? Any input is greatly appreciated.

My 07' 220 SANTE was purchased new to me February of 12'. The tower, racks and original speaker cans were severely oxidized and pitted. I tried doing a few items by hand and bench buffer wheel with negligible results (see below mirror bracket pics). I called around and received some pretty high quotes to bring it back to factory finish. I opted to go with black textured powder coat to cover up some of the pitting that still was visible even after lightly sanding with 220 grit. Good luck on your "project"

Try this - first buy Aluminum polish at an auto store - I use Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish. Sand the area very lightly with high grit paper - 1500 or, 2000 (auto store will also have the sand paper). I have never used lower grit, but you may need too. Your smoothing the surface and removing some of the surface area. Then use the polish. You will find when you first polish, the cloth will get black residue - no problem. Keep polishing using new area pf cloth. Try this on a small area you can not see first. Also, you can try without sanding, depends on the condition of the surface.06 Ski Nautique 196 SE (2010)
