    2003 Excalibur rough idle/missing

    Hello All,
I'm trying to diagnose the source of my rough idle / engine missing problem. I'm starting with the fuel filter in the FCC since it has been a few years since I've changed it.

The engine idles really rough and has a hard time putting on the power out of the hole. Once up to running speed everything smoothes out and the engine runs normally.

Other things on my list to check are: clean flame arrestor, MAP sensor (lots of carbon buildup in the throttle body), distributor cap, fuel pressure/injectors, primary fuel pump.

Has anyone else had a similar problem before and been successful with a diagnosis and fix. If so, I'd be interested to hear what your issue was and the fix. Thanks.

Not speaking from personal experience, but I've read a lot of threads with similar syptoms and they all seemed to center around fuel pumps going bad. I would start by checking there before spending a bunch of money replacing parts that are fine.

Agreed. I have read through alot of those threads as well. Can you rent a fuel pressure gauge at a place like Autozone?

IIRC yes. According to their website they do offer one, but I don't know how much I believe it. Worth a try though.
