Help replacing steering cable for 2004 SAN 210

I have received my steering cable from nautiqueparts.com and am having a heck of a time trying to pull the old and fish the new in. I noticed there are horizontal pipes just under the floorboard by the driver seat that seems to be where the cable goes through. Do I cut the old cable and connect a rope to it so I can pull the new one through the old route? I am way confused and beginning to think the dealer can do this better if they were not four hours away!!!

It will take you little time to do this project. There is a 1.5" thinwall pvc pipe sleave that contain the throttle cable and the steering cable. What I would do is either tape a rope with duct tape to the end at the tlrudder or cut off the gearbox at the helm end and pull it back. You will no doubt have to remove a ballast tank to get to the rudder to disconnect it and pull it out. Beyond that, it is simple nits and bolts. If you are like me, it may take you a few times to get the steering wheel straight when the boat goes.straight. Easy process, dont get too discouraged. Expect about 3 hours if you have to pull a tank out.

Thank you. I didn't even think about having to align things correctly - hmmmmm, should be interesting. I took a break. I have a rope that runs through the channel and its now duct taped to the new cable. Just needed to find some lube to put on it to help slide it through all the tight spaces. I used this on my electrical wires during a remodel and it works great. I was getting pretty discouraged because I couldn't find much information on this project for nautiques. I was so discouraged when I noticed those tubes - but the fuel tank is half full so I don't want ot remove it, hopefully I will get lucky but just in case my girlfriend put me on the prayer chain - lol....

Did mine the other day on my 01 san. I manage to get in the starboard compartment to disconnect the rudder. I then pulled the floor up and grabbed hold of the cable and pulled it out of the engine compartment. Then connected some thin rope to it, disconnected cable from steering wheel. Removed the drivers kick panel then pulled the cable through. Takes some wriggling around and is much easier if you have someone helping you. Once pulled out I connected the new caBle rudder end to the rope and pulled it through to the engine compartment. Disconnected the rope and fed it through to the rudder.
To align rudder to steering wheel, connect cable to rudder first. Then go to the back of your boat and move your rudder so its right in the middle. Then centre your steering wheel. Think it does 1 3/4 turns from centre to full right and centre to full left. Once you find your centre connect cable (rack part) to steering wheel.
The only trouble I really had was finding my cable was cable tied to other cables.
My friend did his on his 04 san and ended up cutting his out. When he put the new one in he ran it on top of the fuel tank instead of beneath.

Did mine the other dag as well. 2001 San Gt 40 ha. It took about 2 half hours. Had to remove ballast tanks. But the hardest part is comfort when connecting the cable to the ruter block. It was just awkward!
