Fuel / carb issue

I have a '93 Sport nautique with a carb.

I took it out two weeks ago for the first time of the season.

The boat ran flawless.

I took it out again today and it ran fine until I hit a wake real hard.

The boat quit.

I started it back up and it sputtered. When I went to punch it it would die. It also ran rough a little rough at idle. Eventually I was able to ope it up, but it still did not run smoothly.

Any ideas?

something like a float valve knocked loose?

It's tough to say without being with the boat. The float and valve is a pretty good start, pretty easy to check and if it's not the problem you are only out a couple gaskets.
