is the starter motor on a GT40 351 special. Or can i order a regular auto starter motor that fits a 351 winsor, as a replacement.

A marine starter has shielding in it to prevent ignition of gas fumes in the bilge of the boat.

Before you say my boat does not have a carburetor, on boats with the FCC, the seal on the FCC where the wires go to the high pressure pump, inside the FCC have developed leaks over the years.

Marine is seal so you get no spark. Spark in an enclosed motor bay equals a bad day at the lake. Seen a guy at my old marina lose his youngest child and hes burnt over 70% because he used wire nuts. Not worth the risk to me anyway.
