I'm hoping that you can help me out with this issue. Took the boat out last week and it was running just fine. As we were coming back to the boat slip I put the boat into Neutral and it died and I was unable to get it started again. It was pretty low on gas but I didn't think it was empty. The gague still showed a little less than 1/4 of a tank. So we got a pull onto the lift where I proceed to fill up the tank. Once the tank was full I tried starting it to flush out the engine (330 excal) and it wouldn't start. After finally getting it to start, it runs fine when you are giving it gas but as soon as you drop it back into Neutral it dies. Boat seems to have full power once you get it out of idle. Any ideas?
I had a boat mechanic take a quick look at it but since we don't have any around here I'm not sure what to do. He told me that he thinks it may be the Idle Air Control? He said that when he keeps 2mm open on the butterfly the engine will stay running in idle. I'm not mechanically inclined at all so if anyone can help it would be greatly apprecaited.
