play in throttle 2002 sante help !!!

SO I have been having issues with the check engine light and I think one of the sensors that is triggering it is the throttle. the throttle handle itself is not loose but there is about an 8 inch play between going from trolling fast and when i want to go high speed.

    1) I put it in gear and troll
    2) I can put more gas to idle faster maybe up to about 9 mph
    3) there then is like a big dead spot .. i have to push the throttle another 8 inches until it hits the gas again.
    4) from that point its fine at high speeds

The boat does not stop or slowdown .. its really as though its like a dead spot for inches pushing the throttle down. It seems to be getting worse.

Has anyone else experienced this? What do you think the problem could be? Cable? at the engine? IN the handle itself?

do you have cruise control? if you do check your servo motor to see if it is working properly and not slackening the cable when you throttle up, check your electrical connections on the servo motor

it could very be this. I had the servo motor changed last fall and it could be that. Ill check it out tomorrow.

Can you tell me where the throttle sensor is located?

The Check Engine Light indicates only two malfunctions:
        1. Engine Temperature (overheating)
        2. Oil Pressure (low oil pressure)
May be actual malfunctions or sensor malfunctions.

this is what i figured. Is there anyway I can disconnect the sensors or another possible way to check these 2 items to see if thats where the problem is.

My oil pressure is just under the 40 PSI mark and temp is always at 140.

For the temp test i will try running the engine cold to see if thats what the issue is, but it would be great to know if there is something i can do to just check the sensor directly. Same thing for the oil pressure sensor.

          Thanks for the feedback H20

EFI motor should be running a 160* thermostat and therefore temp should be approx 160*.
Search PN for "oil pressure switch".
