    Trailer Design

My trailer got mangled in a car crash (boat is fine) and I am looking for a used (preferably) or a new trailer. I was wondering what bunk, winch, bow system is preferred by everyone? My boat is a 2000 SAN and my current trailer uses what I call the goal posts with a bow roller and winch set-up. The boat never contacts the goal posts though and if it does, then the boat is on the wrong side of the bow roller. This set-up can make it frustrating at times to load the boat. Please post pictures of your trailer if you have one that is really easy to load and get the boat centered on.

I have had a Ramlin, but my current trailer is a Dorsey, posted the picture so you can see in the front how it slides into a "V". This is the best trailer I have seen, both loads easy and tows great. Also the Dorsey has oil bath hubs vs grease/bearing buddies. If you can find one of these used, I would recommend.

The "V" on your trailer would make it really easy to load as long as it is easy to get the hull into the "V". This is as simple addition and appears to be so much better than how mine works. So why do trailer manufacturers still build them without the "V" to center the boat?

Here is what I prefer: Vertical v-pads you drive your nose into and a v-pad for your bow to bring the nose up. Drive on, hit the vertical pads, tighten the wench and your out. The vertical set up shown here is from Eagle who makes a nice trailer. My brother had an Eagle under his 99 SN.

If its not a competition ski boat, its always second best.
