Mounting the driver kick panel and CB box

I just bought a 2000 SAN and am fixing a few minor problems. I was searching around trying to find some help on a problem I have and found ag4ever's heater install thread. It helped, but my problem is slightly different.

I needed to pull the panel in front of the drivers seat and found to my surprise the panel was help in place buy a couple of steel dry wall screws driven into a fiberglass box like the one in ag4ever's pictures but coming off the side wall (the inside of the hull). I'm sure the steel screws were added by the previous owner but even if they used stainless screws, is that really the way the factory mounts the panel ? Looking at the heater install thread it looks like it. Is the panel suppose to mount vertically against the box? There are some hoses laying against the front of the box that would prevent this and I'm wondering if that is where they are supposed to go.

The other minor problem is the circuit breaker box is tie-wrapped to some of the wiring conduits. ag4ever's pictures show the CB box poking though the driver kick panel but I don't have enough slack in the wiring to the CB box to pull this off and still be able to remove the panel when necessary. It looks like there are a couple of screws driven vertically into the bottom of the dashboard with some broken plastic still under the heads. This may have been where the box originally mounted but it would still be tough to get the box back there without re-routing all the wires.

Can anyone tell me where the CB box originally mounted in a 2000 SAN? If anyone has a better place to mount it, I'd sure like to hear about it.

    Thanks for the help

RE: Mounting the driver kick panel and CB box

The box was mounted on the kickboard itself. It has a plate on the backside of it to hold it into place. The kickboard itself is mounted to a chunk of fiberglass that comes up from the floor like you are describing. There are four screws to hold it in place.
