Black marks from composite swim step?

Just bought the boat, and it is in incredible condition. But I'm not loving the black rubber on the composite swim step. It seemed to be drying out and I get black junk tracked into the boat. How do I seal it or treat it or replace it?

I think most people end up replacing this with Sea Deck. I believe you can get the replacement kit from nautiqueparts.com.

Yes, there are replacement kits for the original material (SANO) that come in a light grey color, so the black stain issue would go away, but the SeaDek (faux teak) is a nicer surface for your feet. Check with either your dealer or Nautique parts.
