Hour Gauge started adding hours rapidly

Last time out the hour gauge on the tach starting ticking of hours rather quickly, put about 30 hrs on in 15 minutes.
Are the true hours still stored on the engine (2011 excel 343)?
Can the gauge be reset or do I need a new tach?

All GM engines in Nautiques store the hours in the ECU. The gauge is supposed to just display the hours as the ECU stores them. I wonder what your ECU would show if hooked up to a computer. I have never heard of anything like that happening before.
