2003 air 210 engine hot alarm going off?

Hello we recently purchased a used 2003 Air 210 and are having an intermitten issue. Recently we took the boat to the lake and started it but just after about 10 minutes the engine hot alarm light went on and started beeping. This was after we had just punched it for speed. We shut the boat off and did not start it again for about 1.5 hours. The temp was at 175 (when we re started it) and the boat ran fine all day with the alarm not going off again (Temp never above 175). A few days later we again ran the boat with not any issues. Ran it on the lake all day 12 + hours, but now we went back to the lake and again the same alarm has gone off. This time we just left the lake and did not try and start it again.

As we are fairly new to this type of boat we are wondering what may be causing this issue?

Do you know when the impeller was last changed ? Maybe look for a collapsed intake hose ? Thermostat ?

Don't forget to check the strainer as well to make sure it's not full of weeds/debris....

Check thermostat, impeller, hoses, if closed system check heat exchanger, check transmission cooler, sea strainer, check how tight all clamps are...those are all good starts. Good luck

My bet -- your impeller has started crumbling. Chucks of rubber are intermittently getting stuck and causing the engine to overheat. Yet, the impeller is still pumping enough water to make this an intermittent issue. Change the impeller but also be sure to flush the cooling system if the impeller is shredded.

Is the temp on the gauge going up? is it actually overheating? check the wiring in the plug to the temp sensor, NOT the gauge sender. Have had a loose wire which every now and then set the alarm off and put the boat into limp mode.

Check the gasket for the impeller. I promise it's something wrong with the impeller.

Check it. For wahtever reason, people often overlook this. I fought this problem for 3 years, finally kicking it to the curb this year.
